Description
Createx 4011 Reducer is a dilutant used for thinning paint.
Appears clear in the bottle.
4011 Reducer is compatible with and recommended as the standard thinner for all Createx paints and clears.
Mixing 4011 Reducer with Createx paints and clears:
- Lowers viscosity for improved atomization & flow.
- Reduces tip dry.
- Improves drying times and curing of paint.
Mixing
4011 Reducer is generally added 5 – 10% per volume.
Add 4011 to paint in increments of 5% per volume, only adding more reducer when needed to achieve flow and fine atomization.
4011 Reducer may be added to paint in greater amounts up to 20% per volume, such as when painting at low psi settings and with small tip-sized airbrushes.
For optimized performance, after adding 4011 Reducer, allow 10 or more minutes before spraying to allow 4011 Reducer to acclimate with the paint.
4011 Reducer breaks down the water’s surface tension which promotes flow and leveling. This is especially beneficial when painting with a spray-gun.
4011 Reducer does not contain resin. Avoid over-reducing paint. Often, Createx paints spray well when 4011 Reducer is added at low amounts of 5% per volume. To extend colors for increased transparency, use a resin-based clear such as 5601 or 4004 Transparent Base or 4030 Balancing Clear.
Pot-Life & Storage
After adding 4011 Reducer, there is no pot life. However, the alcohol in 4011 Reducer promotes evaporation of water from paint, so if left open paint will thicken due to loss of water content.
Only add 4011 Reducer to Wicked Colors intended for application within a 48 hour period.
Always keep paint bottles capped airtight when not actually pouring paint from the bottle.
Store paint in a cool, dry box or cabinet away from sunlight and direct light.
Health & Safety
Use in a well-ventilated area. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water after use. Do not ingest.
When spraying or sanding, use a properly-fitting NIOSH approved respirator per the manufacturer’s instructions.
Skin contact: Thoroughly wash with soap and warm water. Wearing gloves is recommended.
